My Second Poetry Book

My regular readers have noticed I have not written as many poems lately. That is a combination of several things, but the main reason is that I have been putting together my second book of poetry. Why don't I tell you about it?

"Poems for Holy Days, Holidays and other days." is my second entry into the world of poetry. My first book, "The Old Metal Desk" has been well received. With the first book I went to a lot of expense for the services of a publisher. It's a good publisher and they were a pleasure to work with (end sentence with a preposition). However, I will probably never recover my investment. 98% of the books that were sold are books I have sold to church members, former church members, friends, etc. The lesson: If I don't sell them, they won't be sold.

So with this lesson I have decided to put together my own book. I might actually recover my investment this way. I have several reasons for writing poetry:
1. I find great fulfillment in writing poetry.
2. I love the experience of sharing the poetry.
3. With the printers and binders we have available today, a person can put together a book in a decent presentation.
4. It puts my poems in a convenient way for me to have for my own use.

Therefore, I am putting together this new book in an 8 1/2 x 11 format with a plastic comb binding. I have 5 already for the binding. I have a couple in the Paradise Church who are generously allowing me to borrow their equipment. Isn't that nice.

I believe I may have books ready to go this coming week.

I'll let you know.
