A Bird’s Life

I took a life today.
It happened in a flash.
A blackbird and my bumper
had a great big crash.
I really couldn’t miss it.
It happened much too fast.
I heard it hit the bumper.
And saw it fly right past.
As we travel on the road of life
could we ever concede,
we take parts of others lives
by a careless word or deed.
