Jesus Cheer

The cheer began….
“We love Jesus, yes we do
We love Jesus, how about you?”
A group across the way echoed,
“We love Jesus, yes we do
We love Jesus, how about you?”
Back and forth the challege
was batted like a tennis ball.
The early angelic smiles
soon became sneerful
as each side wanted to win
the “Love Jesus” chant.
Voices became higher pitched
more shrill
more unpleasant to hear
with increased volume.

Meanwhile, across town
someone
silently
fed a hungry person.
