Lenten Devotion for March 16 - Joyful Noise

Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Define for me a joyful noise.
Is it singing off tune but with gumption?
A tin ear can be just as joyful.
I think that’s a fair assumption.

We don’t have to be at a church
to sing in the presence of God.
When sung from the heart the soul
even off key doesn’t sound odd.

Thanksgiving’s important in singing
loudly from the depth of our heart.
It makes our spirit much stronger
when through the gates we depart

Let’s sing so we can to show our thanks
with a noise that expresses delight.
Our worship is what we give to God
that lifts our spirits up to new height.
